What the vendors had to say about their lovely family home
- What attracted you to the property when you bought it ?
The space which was available, both in the gardens, front, side and back, but also in the room sizes. The fact it was an ex council house meant we knew the construction would be solid, and the windows were huge, so there was always lots of light!
We also really liked the area, the fact that the road is not a through road, and it did not feel like a block of new houses where every inch of free space is taken up by properties.
What improvements have you made to the house ?
New boiler was installed as soon as we moved in
New flooring throughout
Cavity wall and loft insulation installed
Every room (except bedroom 3) has been re-plastered
Every room has been painted
New Kitchen
New double doors to the rear garden
Turned it into an open plan downstairs
Added a downstairs W/C
Added a porch
Fitted sockets in useful places
Fitted downlights in all but 1 room
half boarded the loft space
New bathroom fitted with digital power shower
New decking and pergula installed
Grassed over the back garden
Installed brand new fencing at the back with gate to the side of the house
Installed a new driveway
What have you enjoyed about living there?
The location is perfect, having 2 train stations within walking distance, 2 parks within an even shorter distance and a huge rec just a stones throw away means there is so much open space around here. we are a 5 minute walk from the town centre and loads of convenience stores, the house is in such a quiet little spot which has no real draw for any issues at all, meaning a really peaceful and friendly place to live. In terms of the space, we love the open plan living arrangements we have, and we love the fact that we can open the back door and really feel like the house is twice as big with the garden being so enclosed, safe and big.
Having 3 big bedrooms has been a real plus too, the amount of furniture we can fit in to them is amazing, meaning we are not having to compromise on the functionality of any room.
Location
Edenbridge town is located in the Kent countryside and developed from a river crossing in the Roman times, which subsequently evolved into a market town where it became a vital part of the Weald iron industry. The town is surrounded by greenbelt countryside and is famous for its historic and attractive buildings that line the High Street. There are a selection of shops serving day to day needs along with banks, chemists, post office and two supermarkets; Waitrose and Tesco. To the north of the town is a leisure centre with a swimming pool, squash court, dance studio and gymnasium.
The town has the benefit of two main line stations, Edenbridge Town Station to London Bridge/London Victoria via Oxted approximately 50 minutes and Edenbridge Station serving Tonbridge through to Reigate and London Bridge/London Victoria via Redhill.
